Addressing Challenging Behavior
(3 hours or 1.5 hour 2-­part series)

Materials from the Center on the Social and Emotional Foundations for Early Learning help teachers and child care professionals understand why children behave the way they do. This workshop teaches universal strategies and targeted interventions to address behavior.


Developmental Milestones For 3-5 Year Olds
(2 hours)

This workshop provides an overview of typical developmental milestones for children between the ages of three- and five-years-old in the following domains:

  • Communication
  • Gross Motor
  • Fine Motor
  • Social Emotional
  • Cognitive

Sample intervention strategies for each domain and the opportunity to develop your own targeted strategies are also discussed.


How to Administer the Ages and Stages Questionnaires (ASQ-3 and Social Emotional (SE-2))
(3 hours for both the ASQ-­3 and ASQ: SE-2; 2 hours for the ASQ-­3; 1 hour for the ASQ: SE-2)

In this workshop, you’ll learn what a screening tool is, why it’s important, and how to administer and score the ASQ questionnaires. We’ll also discuss and practice the best way to relay sensitive information to parents/guardians.


Implementing a Screening Program Using the Ages and Stages Questionnaire (ASQ)
(1 hour)

This workshop gives an overview of various screening methods using the ASQ-3. We’ll discuss which screening method might work best for your organization, and how to get started.


Overview of Special Education
(1.5 hours)

This workshop covers the basics of special education, such as what it is, special education law, the referral and evaluation process, and the rights of the parent/guardian.


The Importance of Early Intervention and an Overview of Early Stages
(1.5 hours)

This workshop presents research about why early intervention is important for children, families, and society. We’ll describe what Early Stages is, and the Early Stages special education referral and evaluation process.


Trauma and Resilience: Building Strength in Children
(3 hours)

This workshop shows how trauma can affect the developing brain and how to build resilience in children so they can develop into emotionally strong adults.


The Importance of Family Engagement: Engaging Families for Student Success
(2 hours)

In this family engagement workshop, we’ll introduce the key players necessary for great family engagement, discuss what family engagement is and why it matters, and give clear, intentional examples of family engagement in action. Participants will end with a discussion about additional considerations and will leave with a toolkit of actionable ideas they can use to engage families right away!
